The Theater of Life and Death
THE TRUTHSEEKER TALE
Eastern Europe. 1896.
The town is now only part of a small, modestly prosperous rural district struggling painfully to redefine and maintain its ancient distinct cultural identity at the farthest Eastern reaches of the vast Austro-Hungarian Empire.
Accompanied only by her aged servant, a sophisticated, fashionably affluent married woman long resettled in Vienna arrives for an overdue visit to her family and distant childhood home only to find the train station and little town completely deserted. Her impulsive, conflicted efforts to unravel the mystery lead her to a macabre photography museum maintained by a spectacularly formidable past friend and a series of strange encounters and shattering events that leave a lasting impact on many lives for many years.
